Ami's Picks- Makeup & Some Skincare
From lightweight to full coverage, these are my absolute favorites!
Kosas Tinted Face Oil (shade 5):
For those that don't like to wear much makeup but have a nice healthy glow this is gorgeous on the skin. It can feel a little slick like a face oil but absorbs beautifully into the skin
Tarte Maracuja Tinted Hydrator (shade medium neutral):
Not as oily as Kosas but you get glowing, sun kissed skin from this and it's quickly becoming a staple for me.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick (shade 6.0 Ginger):
If you follow me on Instagram you know this is one I always reach for. It's medium coverage foundation with hyaluronic acide and SPF, plus it comes in stick for so it's so easy to use on-the-go. Formula is stunning for daily wear.
Becca Skin Love Weightless Blur Foundation (shade Noisette):
Another medium coverage foundation but as a liquid. It feels like moisturizer going on and gives you the most gorgeos glowing skin. Love the pump too.
Beauty Blender Bounce Foundation (Shade 3.3):
A full coverage, matte foundation that is easy to layer but still feels weightless. The range of colors is wide so choosing a color might be the hardest part, but it's so worth it for the finish.
My beloved Tarte Shape Tape (I wear medium) is only sold at Ulta but here are a few of my other go-to's. I also enjoy more medium to full coverage concealer to keep my makeup in tact all day rather then rely on a heavier base.
Kosas Revealer Concealer + Brightener (shade 5):
This is literally an eye cream and concealer in one. There's arnica and peptides to help brighten and nourish the undereye area and it feels great on.
Jouer Essential High Coverage Concealer (shade honey):
If you like Tarte Shape Tape but want something more hydrating this is for you. Love the doe foot applicator and it has all day lasting power. Only downside is finding an exact match, which can be tricky with concealers.
Tarte CC Corrector (shade medium/tan):
I don't always use corrector but for those days I need a pick me up or help covering dark circles this does it for me. Only comes in 2 shades and this one I listed above is the color I use but it seems to work on darker skin too from when I've tried it on friends and clients in the past.
Kosas Sun Show Bronzer (shade medium)
Talk about a golden hour filter you can wear! My new favorite bronzer for sure (can you tell I'm loving this line?!) I usually apply a cream contour for definition and then a powder for overall glow. It's pretty pigmented so a little goes a long way. Take a nice round fluffy brush, swirl, then apply.
Tarte Breezy Cream Contour (shade grace bay):
Cream contours in a compact are my new obsession. You can apply with a dense brush for intense contouring or take a less packed brush and lightly swirl in the product and add warmth to the face. This one does not budge and layers beautifully over makeup
BLUSH & HIGHLIGHT
Kosas Color & Light Palette (shade 8th muse):
Cream blushes that really work can be hard to find but this one has so much lasting power and doesn't move throughout the day. Easy to layer on top of makeup or if you just want that glow from within look. Tip: use the cream highighter under foundation to get a really subtle glow. It's fool proof if you're new to the highlighting game. I love rosy pink colors (even for darker skin) because it gives off a youthful glow.
Bare Minerals Bounce & Blur Blush (shade Pink Sky):
A beautiful hybrid between cream and powder. You can apply with your fingers or I like to stipple it into my skin with a blush brush. The payoff is gorgeous and it's packed with hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin.
Jouer Highlighter (shade rose gold):
Literally beam with this. But it's not overly shimmery like some highlighters can be. Just gives off the most gorgeous glow.
Lancer Dani Glow Skin Perfector:
More of a skincare products, which I love when you get makeup added into the mix. This is perfect for those days you don't want to wear makeup but still have an even, glowing skin tone. Works well under makeup as a primer or alone. Pricey but during this sale is when you can try out higher priced items you might have been eyeing and Lancer products are well worth their price tag.
I've been obsessed with lip oils especially right now during quarantine where I'm experiencing a lot more dry skin with so much time spent indoors. These are a few of the ones I love for formula, texture, wear and overall feel.
Tarte Maracuja glossy lip oil (universal shade):
Love this for it's subtle wash of color and high shine. It also smells divine and is made with jojoba, hazel & sunflower seed oil so super nourishing.
Kosas Lip Oil (shade dip):
Literally a swipe of color that is so gorgeous and it's packed with hyaluronic acid and not sticky at all. I usually mix 2-3 different colors to achieve one I love and this provides me the perfect neutral all on its own.
Jouer Hydrating lip oil:
Made with apricot oil and vitamin e this is something I keep in my purse at all times to wear alone or over my favorite liquid lip.
Fresh Hydrating lip balm (peach):
I love all of the Fresh lip products but this one just smells so good and feels great. The slight coral tint is also the prettiest.
Nars matte velvet lip pencil (shade good times):
Perfect if you want a lip liner, lipstick & hydrating shine all in one. So easy to use and can easily double up as a cream blush or wash of color for your lid.
Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks (shades sienna & burnished bronze):
I use these all the time on my IG stories and love how easy they are to use. It's like a crayon for your lids. I draw a thick line and smudge out with my finger or a blending brush. Easy to layer too. Tip: If you want that nice smoked out look for your bottom lash line this is an easy way to achieve that. I personally like Sienna on my top lid and Burnished Bronze to smoke out my bottom lash line.
Tarte In Bloom Palette:
If you're like me and love your neutrals this palette is a classic that will take you from day to night with a good amount of matte and shimmer shades. You can use the darker colors as eyeliner and the lighter ones as highlighter too.
Kosas 10-second Liquid Eyeshadow (shade globe & copper halo):
I was just introduced to this and wasn't sure I would like it as much as i do. It's so easy to use and the pay off is gorgeous. If you have oily lids this sets and won't budge. Comes in both satin and shimmer finishes.
Disclaimer: I love more strong, masculine scents that are not crazy powerful but leave a lasting impression. The first 3 are right up that alley and the Narciso is lighter, almost like a body wash
Tom Ford Black Orchid & Soleil Blanc:
I actually love the orchid soleil for myself but love these because they're gender neutral so I often times steal my hubby's black orchid. It also wears so differently on us both and I love it.
Fresh Cannabis Santal:
So fresh but masculine. It's good!
Narciso Rodriguez for her:
Can't get enough of this scent. It's so pure and if you don't like that overpowering smell of perfume, which can give me a headache, this smells like a light wash that lasts all day.
Tarte Set & Protect:
This is a loose powder that also has SPF 30 so a genius way to reapply sunscreen throughout the day, especially if you already have a full face of makeup on. Doesn't have a chalky finish and doesn't crease. I prefer it more as an overall powder to reapply SPF than a setting powder for my undereyes.
Beauty Bio Glo Pro microneedling:
I have a whole video on why I love this so click here if you want to check that out. This is a great way to maintain in between office visits where you might get more intense microneedling procedcures done. It helps uneven skin tone, reduces fine lines and firms skin after weeks of use. Can be used on the lips to plump and has a body attachment to help reduce the appearance of cellulite too.
Glam Glow Gravity Firming Mud Mask:
This is one mask that I truly feel I can see an immediate difference from. It tightens and firms skin but without being harsh or drying out your skin. It starts out silver and changes color once it's ready to be peeled off. I use it about 2x a week.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream:
Yes, this is pricey and I like keeping price point in mind for ladies, but when something's good I have to share and when it's on sale it's the best time to try it out. This is very hydrating and acts as great primer before makeup too. I've used it on my 72-year old mom and makeup has never looked better! If you have larger pores and want a smooth canvas to start with check this out.
Sephora Collection Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation (shade honey): I love a good faux tan and body makeup is a great way to fake time in the sun while also covering up any problem areas like vericose veins, bruises or stretch marks. I really like the Sally Hansen leg makeup but wanted to provide an option here at Sephora. I've been testing out the Tarte body makeup too but it's not available here so wanted to share one that is a great alternative. Tip: spray onto a round brush applicator then apply to skin in circular motion for even coverage.
Keeping it simple here with my basic go-to items
T3 Micro Interchangeable Iron:
I love that this has 3 different barrels. Heats up quickly and the curls last. I switch between the 1'' and 1.25'' for waves and for a more soft, blown out look I reach for my 1.5'' barrel.
Living Proof Dry Volume Blast:
If you desire volume and lasting oomph, check this out. Especially after a fresh wash my hair falls flat and this instantly gives me lift. Especially if working with up-do's this is awesome. I also use it to help extend my one-weekly wash to freshen up my mane.
Hope you enjoyed this little round up and find something new to try!
